1. Purpose of This Policy

This Consent & Safety Policy explains how optic-art.studio collects, processes, stores, and protects your iris images and personal information, and outlines any health and safety considerations related to your photography session.
By booking an appointment, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this policy.

2. Biometric Data & Iris Photography

Your iris image is considered biometric data under UK/EU law. Because of this, we must obtain explicit consent before capturing, processing, or storing your images.

We only use your iris images to provide the services you book and for no other purpose unless you give additional consent.

3. How Your Images Are Processed (Eye.Photo)

To create your final artwork, your iris photo is processed using Eye.Photo, a third-party AI-powered enhancement service operated by Eyepic S.L.

By booking a session, you understand and agree that:

  • Your iris images are uploaded to Eye.Photo’s servers for processing.

  • Eye.Photo stores and processes images on Google Cloud, which may be located inside or outside the UK/EU.

  • Eye.Photo may use your images in anonymised, aggregated form for:

    • AI training and improvement

    • System testing

    • Medical imaging research and development

Eye.Photo does not:

  • Identify individuals using images

  • Use images for authentication

  • Sell or transfer personal images to data brokers

optic-art.studio never sells or shares your images for marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Image Storage & Deletion

We store your processed images securely for the purpose of delivering your artwork.
You may request deletion of your images at any time.

Upon request we will:

  1. Delete our local copies, and

  2. Request deletion from Eye.Photo on your behalf.

5. Your Rights Under UK/EU GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time

  • Request deletion of your images

  • Access or correct your personal data

  • Ask how your data is being used

  • Object to certain processing

We will always comply with these rights.

6. Lighting Safety Information (Important)

Iris photography requires controlled illumination.

During your session:

  • We use two light sources of up to 400 lumens each.

  • The light is positioned between 35° - 45° or greater so it does not shine directly into the pupil

  • The purpose is to highlight iris texture without exposing the retina to direct glare

While generally safe, bright or angled light may trigger symptoms in individuals sensitive to light, including those with:

  • Migraines or visual auras

  • Photosensitive epilepsy

  • Chronic light sensitivity

  • Certain neurological conditions

If you experience any discomfort, you may ask to pause or stop the session at any time.

If you have a medical condition related to light sensitivity, please notify us before your appointment.

7. Your Responsibility Before the Session

By booking, you confirm that:

  • You understand the lighting conditions used

  • You do not have a known photosensitive condition or you accept the associated risks

  • You will notify us if you feel unwell during the session

  • You will communicate any relevant health issues prior to your appointment

8. Consent

By completing a booking on our website and ticking the required checkboxes, you provide explicit consent for:

  • Iris photography and biometric data processing

  • Uploading your images to Eye.Photo for enhancement

  • The anonymised use of your images for AI/medical model development

  • The use of angled photographic lighting up to 400 lumens

  • Storage of your processed images for service delivery

  • Communication related to your booking and artwork

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not proceed with booking.
